About

Bergen Oral Cancer Group

We are a medical research group at  The Gade Institute, University of Bergen, Norway.

The group focuses on the understanding of the biology of oral cancer and the role of various environmental factors in oral carcinogenesis.

We have expertise in immunohistorchemistry (single, double and triple staining), cell culture (2D and 3D models), cell death assays, qPCR and other molecular techniques, xenotransplantation of human oral cancer-derived cells in NOD/SCID mice (ortotypic in tongue and intracardial injections).

Recently, we developed in vitro 3D culture models of normal and neoplastic human oral mucosa that are currently used to investigate the role of tumour stromal cells (fibroblasts) on tumour progression and invasion.
